Dune Lodge – Shop This Home’s Design
There’s nothing quite like waking up to the sound of waves and sipping coffee with an ocean view—and Dune Lodge was built to deliver exactly that. Located oceanfront in South Bethany Beach, this 3,549 sq ft custom home features six bedrooms, six and a half baths, and all the relaxed, elevated charm that makes beach living feel effortless.
The homeowners wanted a space that felt elegant yet approachable—perfect for hosting family, unwinding after beach days, and enjoying quiet mornings with an ocean view. A breezy palette of soft whites, Santorini blues, and natural textures reflects the beauty just outside.
Every detail was designed for easy, coastal living—from the gourmet kitchen with hidden pantry to the pass-through bar, custom bunk beds, and signature touches like ceiling beams and a private coffee station in the primary suite.
Let’s take a tour—and shop the look, room by room.
The exterior of this home uses weather-resistant Nucedar siding in Argos. I love using NuCedar siding for its unbeatable durability and timeless coastal look. It gives us the flexibility to create custom architectural details—like flairs and weaved corners—while standing up to the salty air, sun, and storms that come with oceanfront living.
Paired with the front door in Buckland Blue, this beach home’s exterior oozes classic coastal charm.
The back deck offers the most amazing oceanfront views! Looking for exterior lighting that will withstand saltwater and air? These lights were chosen for just that!
Kitchen and Pantry
This space is all about bringing the ocean in—bright, open, and made for entertaining. From the Santorini Blue island to the hidden pantry and seamless flow to the outdoors, it’s both beautiful and functional.
Cabinets are by Decor in Chantilly Lace and Santorini Blue.
The backsplash is a clean Contour 3×12 White Gloss tile.
Looking for a durable and maintenance-free flooring option, we opted for Coretec Plus Premium in Cyril Oak. This luxury vinyl plank is a great choice for pets, kids and everyday wear and tear.
The kitchen features the Ideal Workstation 4S by Galley, a sleek and versatile sink system that transforms seamlessly from prep station to serving area—perfect for entertaining a crowd or making weeknight dinners a breeze.
Appliances from Sub Zero & Wolf were chosen not only for their high performance and reliability, but also for their timeless design.
We painted the interior in Sherwin-Williams SW 7661 Reflection, a soft, silvery gray that feels airy and sophisticated.
Kitchen pendants are Hudson Valley Lighting Pelham.
The dining area features the Driftwood Entwined Ovals Chandelier from Shades of Light.
Pocket doors lead to this butler’s pantry. The goal is to have a work station and storage in the pantry for food prep and small appliances so you can keep the main kitchen clutter-free!
In the pantry, we used the Hudson Valley Lighting Metal No. 2 Mini Pendant for a classic coastal look.
Family Room
Ceiling beams, a built-in bar in Santorini Blue, and floor-to-ceiling doors framing the ocean view make this space the heart of the home—casual, coastal, and ready for memories.
Over the bar, we added a touch of elegance with the Hudson Valley Lighting Ivy Single Light 13″ pendant, which offers just the right amount of warmth and sparkle.
To keep the ocean breeze flowing indoors, we installed the Fanimation Wrap Custom 60″ ceiling fan— one of my go-to options for fans.
To blur the lines between indoors and out, we installed Marvin Modern multi-slide doors, which flood the space with natural light and offer uninterrupted ocean views with a smooth, minimalist frame.
Staircase
I design our staircases with the same attention to detail and intention as any other room in the house. This one is a perfect example—featuring a unique ceiling design, cable railing with classic X detail and shiplap-clad walls in Chantilly Lace that elevate it into a stunning architectural moment.
We chose the Pescadero Tiered Chandelier from Serena & Lily to make a statement—its layered form adds movement and coastal texture, drawing the eye upward as you move through the space.
Primary Bedroom and Bath
A true retreat, this primary bedroom features a distressed wood accent wall, paired with nautical rope sconces on either side of the bed for a playful, coastal twist on traditional lighting.
This primary suite is all about slow mornings—with a private balcony and a coffee bar right outside the bedroom, what more could you need? We went with Sherwin Williams City Loft on the walls for a calm, coastal feel.
The ensuite bath features marble tile, and the bathtub is perfect for unwinding.
The vanity is custom-made, and we selected Polarstone Ulta White Quartz for the countertop. We situated the mirror so you can see the ocean reflection as you prepare for the day, and added Monroe 1-Light Wall Sconces in Polished Nickel to the mirror for a seamless look.
In the shower, we used Arabescato Carrara 4×12 Marble Tile, laid in a classic 50/50 offset pattern on the walls and a herringbone layout on the floor for texture and visual interest.
The walls are painted in Sherwin-Williams SW 7646 First Star, a subtle, cool-toned neutral that keeps the room feeling fresh and spa-like.
Bedroom with custom bed
I absolutely love this bedroom! The custom-built-in bed and nightstand were thoughtfully designed and built to maximize both space and style. These integrated pieces streamline the layout and create a clean, cohesive look.
Above the bed, we chose Hinkley WINNIE 3555PT Medium Pendants, and the walls are painted in Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace OC-65. One of my go-to colors for shiplap.
Bunk Room and Bath
Custom-designed bunks blend style and function with fold-down rails and built-in storage stairs.
In our bunk bathrooms, I love to add personality and a little extra fun – the Brockway Trough Sink brings a bold, vintage-inspired look with its cast iron basin can be painted any color.
Marine 8×8 Blue And Gray Elba Decorative Pattern Tile on the floor is a great geometric pattern that feels fresh without being too loud.
We finished it off with the Hinkley Lighting Rowan 2 Light 16″ Wide Bathroom Vanity Light with Polished White Metal Shades.
Rec Room and Beach Kitchen
Tucked off the lower level, the beach prep room features a built-in pass-through bar for easy access to post-beach drinks and snacks. Nearby, the rec room offers a cozy spot to relax and unwind.
